A webber isn't really a true barbie. As you've pointed out, it requires some degree of finess and control. A four burner salvaged from hard rubbish day is a BBQ. eight bricks, a hot plate and too many firelighters is a BBQ, A 117 Burner with wok stand and built in bar fridge is a BBQ, but a Webber just... isn't. That's not to say they're not cool, I have a BBQ (see example a) /and/ a Webber for smoking and slow cooking and so on. If you want to discover outdoor cooking go find some Picanha. Mmmh.. Beef.
