Macrame & Glass
Elizabeth August 6th, 2011

This pretty little arrangement hangs in the bay window of our bedroom. It seems almost criminal to shoot it in black & white because of the beautiful blue colour of the glass, but I thought the contrast in this version was striking.

MISSING: one pair of dog eyes.
Sideboard
Elizabeth August 3rd, 2011

The sideboard in my dining room holds a little collection of things I love.
From left to right: A photograph of Tim and I with his mum, aunt and cousin / A painting of a pear, made for me by Tim’s step-dad (the fruit sticker has a shamrock and my date of birth, as my birthday is on St Patrick’s Day) / A pear shaped candle from my aunt and uncle / A framed print of the Brighton beach huts.
The sideboard itself is pretty special to me, too. It’s made from Tasmanian oak, and my Dad had it made when he and Mum were first married. It’s been in my family for as long as I have been alive, and now it belongs to me!
Have you inherited any precious family heirlooms? When my Gran passed away I chose a few really special things to keep, and now they are treasures. I’m taking a photo every day in August, so maybe I’ll share some of them here!
Le woof, le sigh.

Tim has suddenly gone back to work, and this fuzzy little buddy is full of sadnesses.
Big ones.
Instagram / Webstagram
Elizabeth July 7th, 2011
Add me on Instagram! I’m @scarleta.
Instagram may be favourite iPhone app of all time. However, if I had one complaint it would be that people without iPhones (or without the app) can’t participate!
I recently discovered a service called Webstagram which creates a web based feed of your Instagram submissions, and even allows comments via its web interface. You can also use it to add somebody’s feed to your RSS reader if you can’t use the app to aggregate posts. I probably don’t have a need for it myself, but it is pretty nifty for those who wish they could join in!
I’m looking for new people to follow, so if you’re an addict like me leave a comment with your username. In the meantime I’ll try to post my favourite photos here from time to time.
Snow on Mt Wellington
Elizabeth November 20th, 2010

I’ve just been sifting through my photos from our holiday to Hobart, Tasmania in September. Some of the prettiest photos came from Mt Wellington, on a day when it was covered in snow.
It was the second-coldest I’d ever been, and it was wonderful.
I love lamp
Elizabeth November 11th, 2010

I’m deeply in love with the lamp I found for my desk last weekend. I don’t know why it took me three years to do this!

100 Snapshots
Elizabeth September 5th, 2010
My camera has been working hard this weekend, documenting my progress on my 101 Things list.

#83 – Photograph “A day in my life”
Elizabeth August 30th, 2010
Part of my 101 Things in 1001 Days project.
Item #83 on my list was to photograph a day in my life, from beginning to end. It was inspired by a livejournal community that I discovered a long time ago, and putting this together was pretty fun.
And you know what I learned? There is no “good angle” when it comes to that first early morning portrait.

I’m putting all my photos underneath a “more” tag, and I sincerely hope that it doesn’t mess up anyone’s RSS reader! Consider this a once-only, never to be repeated…
On with the show!
Is it the weekend yet?
Elizabeth April 1st, 2010
Only a couple of hours until my five-day weekend!
It would be dishonest of me to suggest that I am focused on my work today. Instead, I have decided to simply file this one under “not productive” and stop fighting it! My biggest achievement was organising morning tea for my colleagues (and toasting about 50 hot cross buns) and I don’t want to run the risk of overdoing things.
We couldn’t have that.
So instead of doing work, here are some photos of my workplace through the lens of Hipstamatic.
